Leave Out all the Rest by Linkin Park, especially this stanza:
When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some
Reasons to be missed
Dealing with my bipolar disorder and people dealing with me will, I'm sure, leave behind bad memories of me. I'm a firm believer in karma, and even though I eff up on an almost daily basis, I try to make up for that by doing good things when I can. Helping out strangers. Sending surprise fun mail to friends. Handmaking cards for family and friends to show I care.
I wish I knew where I stood with the karma gods. Or maybe I don't. I think sometimes I'm ahead, so when something big goes down and I lose it completely, maybe it'll be even-steven til the next thing. I'm doing the best I can.
Will it be enough? I just don't know. I hope so, but I just don't know.

Favorite Lyrics Part 8

Superman (It's Not Easy)
by Five for Fighting
I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find
The better part of me
I'm more than a bird:I'm more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
It's not easy to be me
Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I'll never see
It may sound absurd:but don't be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed:but won't you conceed
Even Heroes have the right to dream
It's not easy to be me
Up, up and away:away from me
It's all right:You can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy:or anything:
I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees
I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
It's not easy to be me.
-----------------------
Why do I like this song, you ask? I think it's an important reminder that the people we look up to or idolize or try to emulate are just people dealing with their own shit. I've always held firm to the idea that, while I admire certain people, I wouldn't go so far as to call them heroes, because that's putting them on a pedestal they may not want to be on. There are so many expectations on people, especially celebrities or popular figures in the media, that I think we as the general public forget that they still have to poo and brush their teeth every day, just like the rest of us.
Puts it in perspective.
And again, that photo really has nothing to do with this post. I couldn't find anything to go with the song lyrics. So you get an old school Fisher Price Little People playing hopscotch. Click on the image to go to the full size version, if you please.
Peace out blog peeps!

Favorite Lyrics Part 7

An oldie, but a goodie...
I Can See Clearly Now
by Johnny Nash
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
Look all around, there’s nothin but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin but blue skies
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
Peace out blog peeps!

Favorite Lyrics Part 6
Another by Jewel, called I'm Sensitive.

I was thinking that I might fly today
Just to disprove all the things you say
It doesn't take a talent to be mean
Your words can crush things that are unseen
So please be careful with me, I'm sensitive
And I'd like to stay that way.
You always tell me that is impossible
To be respected and be a girl
Why's it gotta be so complicated?
Why you gotta tell me if I'm hated?
So please be careful with me, I'm sensitive
And I'd like to stay that way.
I was thinking that it might do some good
If we robbed the cynics and took all their food
That way what they believe will have taken place
And we can give it to people who have some faith
So please be careful with me, I'm sensitive
And I'd like to stay that way.
I have this theory that if we're told we're bad
Then that's the only idea we'll ever have
But maybe if we are surrounded in beauty
Someday we will become what we see
'Cause anyone can start a conflict
it's harder yet to disregard it
I'd rather see the world from another angle
We are everyday angels
Be careful with me 'cause I'd like to stay that way

I was thinking that I might fly today
Just to disprove all the things you say
It doesn't take a talent to be mean
Your words can crush things that are unseen
So please be careful with me, I'm sensitive
And I'd like to stay that way.

Favorite Lyrics Part 5
Ok, I know it's soon after my Mat Kearney review, but, I have to share these. I stumbled across this song on my zen while looking for another Savage Garden song. Great, great song...even better lyrics.
Affirmation
by Savage Garden
I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold
I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
I believe that God does not endorse TV evangelists
I believe in love surviving death into eternity
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I think this is my new theme song. It's THAT good!
Peace out!

Whole Lotta Great Lyrics
So I've been posting my favorite lyrics here every so often. This one is a whole CD of them.

Some of the songs have a bit of a rap feel to them, but they are still awesome. You might know him from a song he did called "Nothing Left to Lose". He might have another on the radio now. Anyway, they are all excellent.
Mat Kearney. Fo shizzle.
Peace out!

Favorite Lyrics Part 4
Seen and Heard
By Scooter Scudieri
As my heart lay in broken pieces
I must fix this puzzle called my life
And as I wander through this land of misfits
I will trust myself to do what's right
Once I took the time to count the number
Of friends and family who left my side
I've no delusions of how I got here
Alone and angry with my thoughts tonight
If I look to you will you look to me?
Commit to endless possibility?
Two fisted clash is not a choice
I'll raise my head and let you hear my voice
I want to be seen
I want to be heard
I want you dangling on my every word
I want to be loud
I want to be clear
I want the world to know that I was here
As my mind tries to connect the pieces
Jagged edges cut me deep inside
I let my music wash away the misery
It gives me strength
It helps me to survive
Some of us would like to believe
That our lives stood for something
Resist temptation to destroy
Step from the shadows
Let me hear your voice
I want to be seen
I want to be heard
I want you dangling on my every word
I want to be loud
I want to be clear
I want the world to know that I was here
I want to be loved
I want to believe
That someone in my life is listening

Favorite Lyrics Part 3
See? I keep my word...this one is by When in Rome. My fave lines in italics again.
If you need a friend,
don't look to a stranger,
You know in the end,
I'll always be there.
And when you're in doubt,
and when you're in danger,
Take a look all around,
and I'll be there.
I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say. (I promise)
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be. (I promise)
But if you'll wait around a while, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise, I promise you I will.
When your day is through,
and so is your temper,
You know what to do,
I'm gonna always be there.
Sometimes if I shout,
it's not what's intended.
These words just come out,
with no gripe to bear.
I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say. (I promise)
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be. (I promise)
But if you'll wait around a while, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise, I promise you...
I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say. (I promise)
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be. (I promise)
And if I had to walk the world, I'd make you fall for me,
I promise, I promise you I will.
I gotta tell ya, I need to tell ya, I gotta tell ya, I gotta tell yaaaa ...
I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say. (I promise)
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be. (I promise)

Favorite Lyrics...Part 1
I have decided to share my favorite lyrics with blogland. Whether you wanted to know, or not. :)
This one is from Cleveland by Jewel (there will probably be a few from her)
Went walking underneath the shadows
Where dark and suede secrets lay
When night's knife falls gently down
Hearts helplessly fall to the ground
Underneath a velvet sky
Only words can lie
I wanna tell you everything
I wanna make your toes curl
You'll be my only boy
And I'll be your only girl
There's not much I can say
You're in Cleveland today
You're in Cleveland today
Stewardesses like Cosmo magazine
Vogue makes me nervous, I feel so plain
I could face the world fearlessly
If you would face it here with me
With just our four hands and four eyes
Traffic cops will compromise
Daffodils and roulette wheels and rusty automobiles
Somewhere our things share the same windowsill
Somewhere our hearts exist independent of time
Somewhere we are whole
One body, one body and one mind
From the air things look so ridiculous
Our fears so small, our fights so vain
I want to pilot a plane with you
So all our problems look small too
It's just an inch from me to you
Depending on what map you use
